so many miles between
and still they are so close
as the heart holds near
family so far from home
or new relationships
distance has dwindled
friendships seem to form
locations meaning little
mutual thoughts mingle
common interests shared
universal thoughts mixing
unity in spite of separation
the joyous side of tech
reaching so far so fast
touching other cultures
but forget the names
of those living next door
that we see every day
what a strange world
I made a pledge to myself to write a poem a day for the entire year. Now to follow through. I preface this with a reminder; most of the poems written for this year long project will be done so spontaneously and therefore will not be edited. Bear with me on this. The project goal is to get them written over getting them perfect. Several times there will simply be the poem with no title. When that happens suggestions for a title will be welcomed in the comments.
Well, the flip response is, put the neighbors on your "list" or get off the computer and use your ingenuity to connect to those seen daily. Sometimes, however, we don't want that much close interaction to those we see daily. We all make choices. Some never get to know others far away. Can we do it all?
