Preface: One hundred .... I am surprised I have not only kept at it but that I have managed to find things to write on. A century today and its waiting for your reading pleasure. A special thanks to all of you that stop by to share my little madness. #100 is ready! Have a great day!
I sometimes sit alone and sing
it doesn't matter what song
it is the act of singing alone
that lifts my spirits higher
emotions ride upon the lyrics
drifting around and through me
creating dualities of sensations
juxtapositions of harmonies
singing for myself alone
brings me personal pleasure
happy in the expression
of thoughts through music
other feelings come as well
from the words themselves
two sensations at one time
thrilling my perception
powerful lyrics stir the spirit
amplified by the very joy
given in setting the words free
and the effect deeply moves
today I sought inspiration
as I sang some old favorites
and instead found comfort
in being with familiar friends
motivational works lifted
brought chills to my skin
and hope to my heart
too much energy to sit still
though I may sound flat
happily singing off key
the magic keeps working
and my spirit soars free
there was such a need for me
in my struggle to wake today
gray drab skies pressing in
leeching away hopes of elation
and so I turned to my music
those faithful friends of mine
and shared with them my day
disproving the old theory
you really can pick yourself up!!
I made a pledge to myself to write a poem a day for the entire year. Now to follow through. I preface this with a reminder; most of the poems written for this year long project will be done so spontaneously and therefore will not be edited. Bear with me on this. The project goal is to get them written over getting them perfect. Several times there will simply be the poem with no title. When that happens suggestions for a title will be welcomed in the comments.

a thousand soft cool kisses
lightly caressing heated skin
soothing the fever burning
with welcomed tenderness
anticipation grows slowly
minutes seeming to be days
and days are forever long
as winter ruled the land
today the rule has changed
spring is claiming power
temporary illnesses abound
spring fever is epidemic
morning rain lightly falls
suffering souls congregate
feeling the morning rain
as it soothes the fevers
temporary malady fades
the masses improving
until the 3:00 pm cure
its home opener in the D.

once upon a time, far far away
as those stories all like to start
there were very heated debates
as all sides sought resolutions
these days that seems to be past
collective bargaining an expense
no real value in solving conflict
bargain like Washington instead
no compromising on principles
no matter how self serving
claim stubbornness the cause
and blame the other side for it
small separations don't exist
everything becomes a major issue
do not give in to pressures
remain firm no matter how silly
once upon a time, closer to home
common sense will return to us
and partisan obduracy vanish
true compromises to find again
as those stories all like to start
there were very heated debates
as all sides sought resolutions
these days that seems to be past
collective bargaining an expense

Kites sitting on the wind
wishing something more
wanting to dance and run
you can see it in their eyes
how like the spirit they are
held in check by a string
held in a firm strong hand
not letting go control
the string of authority
seeming to restrain us
we feel it holds us back
but it only helps us soar
the hand that holds us
leads and guides us
leads us to that place
and we sit on the wind
wishing something more
wanting to dance and run
you can see it in their eyes
how like the spirit they are
held in check by a string
held in a firm strong hand
not letting go control
the string of authority
seeming to restrain us
we feel it holds us back
but it only helps us soar
the hand that holds us
leads and guides us
leads us to that place
and we sit on the wind

abstract thinking again
wondering why ducks
no idea why ducks
just ducks are there
random bits of nothing
like flies getting stuck
ideas cling to the strip
forming no coherency
distracted by shiny
glitter holds attention
can't focus on anything
scattered images float
it is like having a fever
shifting constant flux
nothing lasts forever
somethings not at all
lost in my own mind
while never moving
looking at the colors
concentration impossible
another day of wonder
seeking a child's awe
finding the beauty
never looking beyond
time now to focus in
on being responsible
and wake up to reality
such a sudden change
wondering why ducks
no idea why ducks
just ducks are there
random bits of nothing
like flies getting stuck
ideas cling to the strip
forming no coherency
distracted by shiny
glitter holds attention
can't focus on anything
scattered images float

a random act of kindness
a smile given just because
a tiny bit of nothing to us
can change their world
their story cannot be known
with just a fleeting glance
assuming from an image
never bothering to care
a simple thank you given
often catching by surprise
delivers a sense of gratitude
making another's life happier
Thank you for YOUR random acts
a smile given just because
a tiny bit of nothing to us
can change their world
their story cannot be known
with just a fleeting glance
assuming from an image
never bothering to care
a simple thank you given
often catching by surprise
delivers a sense of gratitude
making another's life happier
Thank you for YOUR random acts

today I saw some blue
dancing across the sky
spinning and twirling
a tango with the clouds
today the dance is over
the blue has left the sky
and gray controls all
the only blue is mood
it is hard to feel joy
or thrill about the day
with cold and dark
the atmosphere I see
I miss the spring
that teased so shortly
I know it went away
I watched geese fly south.....
dancing across the sky
spinning and twirling
a tango with the clouds
today the dance is over
the blue has left the sky
and gray controls all
the only blue is mood
it is hard to feel joy
or thrill about the day
with cold and dark
the atmosphere I see
I miss the spring
that teased so shortly
I know it went away
I watched geese fly south.....
