mind does not wander
trapped within itself
unable to shift outside
prisoner of thought
walls surround me
keeping me safe within
cut off from reason
living the illusion
cannot break free
solitary confinement
holding notion captive
restricting creativity
locked away from me
as well as the rest
stagnating within
the prison in my mind
I made a pledge to myself to write a poem a day for the entire year. Now to follow through. I preface this with a reminder; most of the poems written for this year long project will be done so spontaneously and therefore will not be edited. Bear with me on this. The project goal is to get them written over getting them perfect. Several times there will simply be the poem with no title. When that happens suggestions for a title will be welcomed in the comments.

The first two stanzas, with a myriad of words, ends up describing "living the illusion".
ReplyDeleteThat prison then is described as holding "notion" and restricting "creativity".
It's confusing.
safety to grow from or to be restrictive ... sometimes both ... at times none of the two even, just a known state, and dangerously close to the christian vice called sloth (? :/)
