silent conversations
so many things not said
whole moments of life
passing away unheard
needed explanations lost
special plans never made
misunderstandings uncleared
hurts hidden never to heal
two sides of every coin
negative brings a hurt
sadness a feeling of loss
time let get away from us
never saying the words
we deeply wished we had
mourning those moments
but for whom do we weep
silence is not lonely
silence is not sadness
silence is not secretive
silence is not to blame
silent conversations
so many things not said
quiet moments of sharing
no words need voiced
the special look given
a special touch shared
knowing each other's mind
thoughts passing easily
the quiet of the moment
words would get in the way
feel the comfort around you
that only silence brings
do not blame the silence
if you fail to communicate
it is not the sound that is missing
it is something far more personal
I made a pledge to myself to write a poem a day for the entire year. Now to follow through. I preface this with a reminder; most of the poems written for this year long project will be done so spontaneously and therefore will not be edited. Bear with me on this. The project goal is to get them written over getting them perfect. Several times there will simply be the poem with no title. When that happens suggestions for a title will be welcomed in the comments.

Those silent intimate conversations can be the most intense ones. The awkward silence is only because we fear the words. Thanks for the reminder that silence is neither good nor bad it is our choice what to do with it.
ReplyDeleteThere is a true depth to this poem. There is both pain, "education", and healing. It makes me want to read it many times, to think, to feel, to let my mind wander in many of the directions brought up.
ReplyDeleteI know I have no idea what the topic is or to whom it is being said. It feels, however, as if I were there, standing invisibly between two people as they were being intimate. Quite disconcerting to be there, but a privileged place to be as well. Yes, your words do exactly that.
Intimacy (or Intimate) is the best title at the moment, for me.
