The Fifty Seventh, Feb. 26, 2011

It is a concept that I find hard to believe
something beyond me to even conceive
I feel I am watching social sanity leave
and once its gone its so hard to retrieve

all for one and one all alone
feel the truth as it cuts to the bone
all for one and one all alone
cultural epitaph carve into stone

the present situation denies all sanity
a conscious decision leading to calamity
forsaking the rights of fellow humanity
driven toward disaster to feed the vanity

all for one and one all alone
feel the truth as it cuts to the bone
all for one and one all alone
cultural epitaph carve into stone

how can you condone the selfish actions
dividing a nation into useless factions
ignoring the masses very loud reactions
soon you will pay for your infractions

all for one and one all alone
feel the truth as it cuts to the bone
all for one and one all alone
cultural epitaph carve into stone

left too long without proper accounting
no concern what tomorrow may bring
no worry about much of anything
soon you will hear the people sing

all for one and none all alone
a new truth that cuts to the bone
all for one and none all alone
cultural cry to carve into stone

its time to wake up and smell the future.

The Fifty Sixth, Feb. 25, 2011

I am a volcano
filled with fire
bubbling rage
total disgust

history means nothing
future even less
only the moment
and all that I can steal

give me power
mighty power
control of man
I am on top

I need no support
I need nothing from you
I have taken all you had
you are now meaningless

I control you
I hold your rights
I give and take
you have nothing

You thought I was for you?
to support and care for you?
that I should listen to you?
you are ignorant and naive

lift up your voice
I will not hear it
shake your fists
I will not see you

You created me and gave life
but I have outgrown you
you think to contain me
yet I am bigger than you

Surrender hope
accept your place
service to the creation
you thought would serve you

I am GOVERNMENT
you are the masses
fodder to feed my hunger
meaningless beyond that

The Fifty Fifth, Feb. 24, 2011

Hood the robin
blind his eyes
as roles reverse
shaming his legacy

steal from the poor
give to the rich
strength to the power
oppressing the masses

Prince John lives on
and Nottingham grew
covering a globe
with many sheriffs

the myth has left us
in our time of need
a shortage of merry men
brings sadness to all

beware the waking
as times get worse
the masses may have less
but not in numbers

remember Sir Robin
how he became the Hood
another case foreclosure
as power ran amok

will we see a revival
of the prince of thieves
rising to fight injustice?
time to look for arrows

The Fifty Fourth, Feb. 23, 2011

rambling thoughts lacking coherency
skipping mentally from track to track
coffee is rather tasty this morning
but the day started out very cold

My left shoe needs to be retied
I do like my new shoes
there are clouds now blocking the sun
protesters in Wisconsin and Ohio

they are getting pizza in Madison
support from across the globe
I wish my window opened
Moammar Gadhafi sounds insane

earthquake in New Zealand
big mess in Christ's Church
spring training is in full swing
yes, it is time to re-tie my shoe

days like these are difficult
as I need to find my focus
forcing the mind to settle down
and stay in one place for me

need to concentrate on one thing
complete a project and move on
stay on target until complete
a strain on the scattered mind

my life is filled with such days
making "success" a struggle
but what is success any way?
today, it is completing this poem

my shoe still needs re-tied...

The Fifty Third, Feb. 22, 2011

The scent still lingers
the aromatic pleasure
herbs mingled lightly
with the joy of bread

still warm from the oven
it calls out softly to me
seeking to be taken
savored and enjoyed

I feel the warmth
as I hold it in my hand
butter melting smoothly
adding to temptation

fresh baked herb bread
with oregano and basil
distracting my attention
from the rest of the meal

The Fifty Second, Feb. 21, 2011

What new miracle is this
another nation cries out
another people seek life
without political oppression

we cheer those brave souls
and wish them victory
as we watch our decay
eating away our own

they seek political reform
to improve the way of life
making things better for all
to relieve the burden

while here, within the bastion
the beacon of democracy
we watch as rights fade
taken away on pretexts

to balance poor budgets
the poor lose their hope
to pay the price for the rich
who are never held to blame

we give away freedoms
in hopes to remain secure
being fed a diet of fear
remain afraid like good sheep

we praise our bothers
as they seek a new path
hoping to attain the rights
we are watching slip away

The Fifty First, Feb. 20, 2011

Ah Spring! How cruel a lover you are!
Tempting me with the kiss of your breezes
soft across my skin so chilled with winter
hinting at the sweetness of your embrace

Warm the promise of your gentle touch
the teasing sun glow bringing smiles
happiness and hope begin to rise
then snow falls once more around me

you tease and tempt me with promise
and then retreat to your private place
leaving me to Winter's harsh hold
I wish you would not play such games
