it is not fair
just plain not fair
totally unfair
did I mention its not fair?
my back hurts
just standing can do it
sitting can as well
twisting wrong too
and there he lays
so smug and cute
sleeping soundly
twisted like a knot
its not fair I say
he runs and runs
leaps high in the air
darts in and out so fast
then falls asleep
twisted three ways
and eyes half open
watching me suffer
yes, he is an evil kitty indeed...
I made a pledge to myself to write a poem a day for the entire year. Now to follow through. I preface this with a reminder; most of the poems written for this year long project will be done so spontaneously and therefore will not be edited. Bear with me on this. The project goal is to get them written over getting them perfect. Several times there will simply be the poem with no title. When that happens suggestions for a title will be welcomed in the comments.

Yes life is never fair. I am so reminded of the aches and pains I have by this poem.
ReplyDeleteThe rhythm of the humor in the first stanza is a very good one, followed by a nice second stanza. We envision the cat clearly in the third stanza. A revisiting of the unfairness in the fourth stanza with more clear imagery there and in the next stanza. I wanted, more than anything to respond with something focused like, "Do you really wanna have the brain of a kitten? (but in a clever manner)" but finally decided I couldn't fault anyone for wanting to live that life. I'm sure there is a name for calling a kitty evil...some clever English 101 word that is not coming to my mind (any help here anyone?). The poem is sweet, as sweet as......
