The One Hundred Ninety First, July 9, 2011

there is a pleasure
in family reunions
seeing your past
looking at the future

seeing your face
twenty years ago
beside your face
twenty from now

generation mirrored
looking back in time
personalities pass on
hereditary confirmed

I see the beginning
ancestors living on
constantly reborn
in the children's faces

  1. I appreciate the consistency of the rhythms throughout this poem. I see that the words "face" and the word "see" are used often. It says something about the poet, I believe. The theme of time continues to be important. It's a relaxing, sweet poem focusing beyond the hubbub of the event itself.
