oh the wonder the ear provides
more than just simple pleasures
the gentle sounds around us
birds and breezes and streams
beyond the joy of a giggle
a baby's carefree laughter
a child's imaginative story
the soft whispers of emotion
even better than these things
a miracle of wonder the are
for holding up the glasses
and a place to rest a hat
I made a pledge to myself to write a poem a day for the entire year. Now to follow through. I preface this with a reminder; most of the poems written for this year long project will be done so spontaneously and therefore will not be edited. Bear with me on this. The project goal is to get them written over getting them perfect. Several times there will simply be the poem with no title. When that happens suggestions for a title will be welcomed in the comments.

Shakes her head and smiles at the unexpected absurdity. My first reaction is, "Poetry is NOT for such as these" but in questioning my own thoughts I realize there is no limit to poetry, even if I were to wish it.
ReplyDeleteSince I find many of your poems have "surprise endings", perhaps there should be a warning label. *grins*
