The Two Hundred Sixtieth, September 17, 2011

kindness is a gift
given and received
the freer the better
yet never owned

try to hold it
and it fades away
lock it in a safe
and it will be gone

simply give it away
you will never lack
the more you proffer
the more you find

this is true value
more so than gold
your worth grows
by keeping none

giving love away
to stray puppies
has filled my heart
with their love

wake up Wall Street
here is the truth
the only investment
that really matters

and the best type of bail out EVER!

  1. Thumbs up for this poem. It is so true that you cant keep kindness but to give it away.

  2. This poem reminds me of the kinds of riddles given by dragons to those questing or wanting the gold (stanzas 2, 3, 4).

Was the last stanza your original thought or did it come as your wrote about your heart's desire? Just curious.

  3. Well interesting question, Connie. The truth is it came to me when I wrote the second stamza and fell into place when I wrote the fourth.
