The One Hundred Eighty Third, July 1, 2011

here we stand once more
stranded by our own deeds
looking out upon raging seas
waves threatening to engulf

how did we we end up here
losing our way amid dreams
following the wrong lights
believing the falsehoods

too late to try a swim for it
no ships are out there to help
it is only our perfect storm
we must face it on our own

it is time to stand tall
face forward and start
attack the waves head on
feel them on our ankles

accepting our responsibility
for the actions we have done
is the first step in honor
be honest with yourself

  1. I find adversity leads to poignant poetry once again. The words are overwhelmingly powerful and redemptive. I wouldn't change a word. As for a title: The Discipline of the Waves
